AIA : The Association of International Accountants

Based in the UK, the Association of International Accountants is an international accountancy body. Since its foundation in 1928, the AIA has promoted and supported the advancement of the accountancy profession both in the UK and internationally. The AIA is one of the very few bodies with the status of a Recognised Qualifying Body for those who wish to progress to becoming Statutory Auditors. This is the highest recognition attainable by a UK accountancy body and consequently, the AIA qualification is recognised by the European Union along with many other countries. Members of the AIA in practice are issued with an annual Practising Certificate as long as certain standards have been maintained which includes attending a minimum number of hours of Continuing Professional Education & Development, minimum insurance levels and monitored compliance with Association rules. The AIA monitor practices to ensure that members are maintaining the high level of skill and professionalism expected from them. Upon successful completion of the Quality Assurance monitoring visit, practices are awarded the AIA Quality Assured Certificate which means that the member has committed to -        Maintaining high professional and ethical standards        Implementing robust and suitable anti money laundering measures        Establishing the appropriate systems and procedures to comply with the AIA’s                  practising regulations N W Potter & Co are very proud to have been awarded this Certificate. AIA Members in Practice are often required to provide financial information and references to third parties (with the permission of clients) for a variety of reasons but mainly in connection with applications for loans and mortgages. The AIA have liaised with many Banks, Building Societies and Insurance Companies who have specifically stated that they will accept the signatures of AIA Members in Practice on the Accounts of clients seeking finance & mortgages.
